Seaton Tramway (Devon) - April 2017
The Seaton Tramway is located on the Devon coast, and runs inland to Colyton alongside the River Axe. Seaton itself lies between the Beer Head and Haven Cliff and is the gateway to the Jurassic Coastline. The tram line runs along part of the former British Railway track bed which once ran to Seaton. The River Axe also provides a wealth of wildlife from Shelduck, Oyseter Catchers, Baders, Foxes, Kingfisher and Barn Owls, and the line operates regular bird watching specials along with local wildlife experts. The 2ft 9 in (838mm) narrow gauge electric tramway with 120V DC overhead line was opened on during 28th August 1970 having with the site having been purchased by Claude Lane who was the owner of the Lancaster Electrical Company. Sadley he passed away just one year later and never got to see the attraction grow to its current size. The operational trams are all two thirds size replicas of original constructed trams.
