Taunton Heritage Bus Day - 2025

The Taunton Heritage Bus Day, held on Sunday, June 1st, 2025, celebrated the history of bus travel in Taunton and the surrounding areas. Organized by the Thames Valley & Great Western Omnibus Trust (TV&GWOT), the day offered free vintage bus rides on authentic routes, connecting town and country destinations. Buses, coaches, and routes radiated from The Parade in Taunton town centre, with services to locations such as Wellington, Bishops Lydeard (connecting with the West Somerset Railway), and other rural spots. Due to remodelling works, the usual bus station site was unavailable, so services operated from The Parade. The event featured a magnificent range of vehicles from across the decades, representing 60 years of bus travel from the 1940s into the 21st century. An exhibition was held at Taunton Library from May 27th to June 7th, complementing the bus day with information on Taunton's bus history, including the replacement of electric trams by motorbuses in 1921 and the imminent arrival of electric buses in 2025.
