London - 22nd March 2025

A visit to London on the 22nd March provided an incredibly busy day on the South Western Railway and London Overground routes within a three mile radius of Clapham Junction. The day started early with a drive to Eastleigh where we caught a service through to London Waterloo. The aim of the trip to originally explore the eastern side of London, however the amount of freight and interesting flows operating on the western side of the city changed the plan entirely. The traffic flows were incredibly busy for a Saturday and proved to be busier than a normal weekday. The images below show the wide and interesting variety of images captured during the visit.

Recently repainted into its British Rail British Steel livery No.37501 (formerly No.37601) is pictured passing Shepherds Bush on the 22nd March 2025. No.37501 was returning London Overground unit No.378229 to London as 5Q87 07:11 Widnes Transport Tech - New Cross Gate. The Class 378 had recently been refurbished and re-liveried into the updated London Overground colours. In the background is the Grenfell Tower which is on visible in the winter at this location but will soon be removed as it's recently been decided to take the tower down.
