'A Day on the Clay' - 37142 - Bodmin & Wenford Railway
'A Day on the Clay' charter took place on the 5th March 2008, at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway in Cornwall. The rather inclement Cornish weather conditions, hampered photography slightly but also provided a bit of atmosphere. The charter was kindly put together by Sam Felce and the Bodmin Diesel Group.
The aim of the charter was to recreate scenes from the past when Class 37's would of regularly made the climb from Bodmin Parkway (Road) with china clay hood wagons in tow. Preserved Cornish Class 37 No.37142 was coupled to the Cornish China Clay Hoods and for comfort used two guards vans. We had operational rights over the whole length of the persevered line during the day long charter.
There was plenty of time for static and moving photos/ video to be obtained, and a nice warm fire in each of the guards vans to keep us warm!
