Dawlish & Teignmouth Sea Wall - 10th September 2022
The Dawlish and Teignmouth 'Sea Wall' section of the southwest mainline has seen huge changes in recent years with major sea defence works carried out at the central Dawlish Section following a major breach of the line 2014. With further work due to start in the Teignmouth area I visited the classic stretch of coastline on Saturday 10th September to record some of the scenes before more changes and constructed to protect the railway and cliffs faces from further erosion and collapse.
The weather during the morning period was excellent for September and my visit also coincided with a visiting steam charter from Saphos Trains hauled by 'Brittannia'
