Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway - Diesel Gala - July 2023
The 7th - 9th July saw the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway hold their annual Diesel Gala Event. The line has a good selection of heritage diesel locomotives which are well cared for, the added bonus of a purpose built diesel shed allows the locomotive paintwork to stay in excellent condition. A single visiting locomotive No.D7569 (25309) from the Waterman Railways Trust was also a nice addition to complement the other Sulzer locomotives staring at the Gala. While the Friday for the event was bathed in glorious sunshine, Saturday was a little more humid and changeable, culminating in an evening thunderstorm.
The Diesel Group workshops were open to allow visitors to view work on Class 26 No.26043 and former French Class 20 No.20228 both of which are currently under restoration.

Former French Class 20 No.20228 is pictued at Toddington Depot on the GWR on the 8th July 2023. The Class 20 is one of a small batch which was exported to France in the 90s and later repatriated to the UK.
