Rugby Area - 19th September 2020

Picture
Saturday 19th September 2020 provided the opportunity to visit the Northampton / Rugby area to capture passenger and  freight operations on the busy West Coast Mainline. Three remote locations were picked which gave good views of the railway, which also allowed social distancing. Rugby is a busy junction where traffic flows for Birmingham and Northampton split, it's also an important road / rail logistics hub with many well known companies such as Stobart, WS Transportation, WH Malcom, Tesco, & Sainburys all have large logistics operations at this important regional hub. Regular freight flows leave for Mossend, Wentloog, London each day, and the many through container services pass through Rubgy from Felxstowe, Hams Hall, Crewe Basford Hall and Mossend.
The below images capture operations on just one day at three locations. Grendon, Cathiron and Ansty in the Rugby area.
