Swiss Transport Museum 'The Verkehrshaus'
The Swiss Transport Museum is located in Luzern at The Verkehaus. The museum even has its own station located on the opposite side of the road to the main entrance. The Museum is one of the best I have ever visited and is a fully integrated 'Transport Museum' covering Road, Rail, Marine and Aviation History of Switzerland. It's bright airy, well laid out and with plenty of activities, games and areas for children to learn about the countries transport history and future. At the time of our visit the was also an exhibition on the newly constructed Gottard Base Tunnel. Entrance tickets cost 30 Swiss Francs and give you access to the entire museum, I would recommend a half day is allowed to fully experience the superb amount of exhibits and information on offer. The highlight of the visit was the motoring section where the entire building has been covered in road signs. The museum is one of the best thought through and eclipses the National Railway Museum based here in the UK. I can't recommend a visit to the Swiss Transport Museum enough!
