The Galloway Fifties - 11th September 2021

The Galloway Fifties charter operated by Pathfinder Tours, The Fifty Fund and GBRf operated on Saturday 11th September 2021, the tour having previously been postponed from 2020 because of the various COVID19 lockdowns in England and Scotland.
The charter featured two veteran Class 50 locomotives from The Fifty Fund. Nos.50007 and No.50049 set off from Tame Bridge Parkway (Birmingham) at 04:52 in the morning to reach the Scottish branch line location of Stranraer by 13:30.
The 750 mile round trip would mark the first ever visit of the the class to the Scottish outpost.
Passengers were provided with a short 20 minute break at Stranraer before returning to Ayr for a longer break. This allowed the crew time to move No.50007 to the front of the train, and fill the coaching stock water tanks before continuing the journey back to Tame Bridge Parkway.
