The Pennine Wayfarer - 12th March 2022

The Pennine Wayfarer charter was operated by Pathfinder Railtours on the 12th March 2022. The charter was re-dated from January and with space still available on the train we booked seats to take advantage of the lighter days, heritage traction and route through the Hope Valley and Copy Pit scenery.
The charter started at Bristol Temple Meads before heading to Birmingham, Derby, and Chesterfield where the tour was routed via the Hope Valley towards Manchester, before taking in a circular tour over the Pennines to Huddersfield and back via Stalybridge to Manchester Victoria and Bolton. 
The charter was hauled by a pair of veteran Class 37 locomotives from Direct Rail Services. Significate as DRS had announced they would no longer be supporting the charter market from 2022.
