Toton Yard & Cossington - 26th February 2022
Toton Yard is located just to the east of Nottingham and has long been the central maintained facility for railway locomotives. The yard is a shadow of its former self, which once serviced the Nottinghamshire coal traffic. The depot and yard are currently operated by DB Cargo, and contains up to one hundred locomotives at any one time. The convenient location of 'Toton Bank' provides a fantastic view of the daily operations at the site.
The yard also contains a huge selection of stored locomotives waiting to either be stripped for spares or sold.
Toton will become the East Midlands Hub for HS2 with a parkway station being formed between Nottingham and Derby together with integrated light rail connections from the same site.

Cossington
Cossington is located on the Midland Mainline between Leicester and Loughborough covering the East Midlands Railway train operating route between London St Pancras - Nottingham and Sheffield. The four track mainline provides a mixture of Intercity express passenger services, local stopping trains and longer distance freight movements. I visited this pleasant location on the 26th February 2022.
