Yeovil Junction & Westbury - 22nd September 2022
On Thursday 22nd September I made a short trip to Yeovil Junction and Westbury. The purpose of the trip was to record the Network Rail New Measurement Train operating in the Yeovil area, where it had to carry out a rare manoeuvre to stable. The line west of Axminster was closed due to engineering work, so the NMT was unable to carry out its full testing diagram, the set stabled at Yeovil before picking up its booked path.
Westbury never fails to provide interest with huge tonnages of Mendip stone conveyed from Whatley and Merehead Quarries to unloading terminals around dotted around the south of the UK. GWR and SWR also provide regular Intercity and local passenger connections
